Dr. Bruce Xu from Food Science and Technology Program in DST was invited to attend "the 2nd Innovation Development Forum of Chinese Food Industry-University-Research" which was held on November 2-4, 2012 in Beijing. Dr Xu won "Outstanding Research Talent Award".

During the meeting, Dr. Xu presented a report entitled "Telomerase Inhibitors Derived from Natural Foods and Their Anticancer Activity", Dr. Xu also attended the 1st editorial board meeting of a new international journal Food Science and Human Wellness, and received letter of appointment as Associate Editor-in-Chief of the first editorial board of Food Science and Human Wellness with a four-year engagement period.

The contest was organized by China Food Publishing Co., China General Chamber of Commerce, China National Food Industry Association, Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Nutrition Society and other organizations. The aims of this meeting and contest were to build a high level platform for the cooperation between food industry and researchers, to promote scientific research and accelerate the innovation and development of food industry.

Due to the outstanding contributions of Dr. Xu to the innovation and development of food industry and research, the "Outstanding Research Talent Award " was conferred on Dr. Xu by "the 2nd Innovation Development Forum of Chinese Food Industry-University-Research"
