The Food Science and Technology Programme has a total of 13 labs, locating in T8-501, 502, 503, 504, 506, 507, 508, 509, 510, 511, 514, 515 and 516. They are all well-equipped with advanced facilities for cell culture, biochemistry and biotechnology, chemical and food analysis, food processing, etc.

The Food Science and Technology labs are the key developing labs in UIC, which consist of Food Processing Lab, Food Analysis Lab, Food Chemistry Lab, Molecular and Cell Biology Lab, and Microbiology Lab.

The core facilities are: High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES), Real Time-PCR, Multifunctional Microplate Reader, Fluorescence Microscope, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Freeze Drier, Spray Drier, Gel Image Analyzing System, Protein Purification System, Western Blotting System, Animal Cell Culture System, Microbial Culture System, Lab-Scale Fermentor, etc.

They are mainly used for laboratories classes and conducting the following important basic researches: The promotion effect of food-related health which is base on molecular biology and cytobiology technology; chemical identification and quality evaluation of bio-active compositions from principal crop products; isolation and identification of chemical constituents from natural products which can be used both as food and medicine.
