曾镜涛教授1970年毕业于香港中文大学物理系,1971年获纽约州立大学-斯通尼布鲁克校区物理学硕士学位,1975年获得普林斯顿大学天体物理学博士学位,其导师Prof. Ed Frieman曾任 美国总统卡特的白宫科学顾问。曾教授留美长达三十多年,历任美国橡树岭国家实验室研究员,能源部聚变研究员, NASA空间物理研究项目领导;是著名的聚变与空间等离子体,以及微波物理专家。长于计算机仿真技术及理论,以统计学算法应用于物理及工程问题建模。发表学术论文90余篇,大部分刊于Physics of Fluids, Nuclear Fusion, Physical Review Letters, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Icarus, Journal of Geophysical Research等知名学术刊物。曾教授于2004年返香港科技大学太空科学研究中心参与嫦娥一号的数据分析工作,并于2006年8月加入联合国际学院。

计算机仿真,微分方程,数据挖掘与最优化算法应用于 微波,行星科学,聚变与空间等离子体物理各类问题的建模。
